A Nice Surprise!


Surprise!! My brother drove down from Tallahassee yesterday and wanted to surprise my mom and I. Too bad he posted a status on Facebook before he left. Come on, like we wouldn’t see that? haha!

Still a nice surprise and I’m glad he’s here! We barely ever see him now a days since he lives almost 7 hours away. TOO FAR! I love my bro, so happy we are close 🙂 Obviously that picture is old because I am BLONDE.

Last night he didn’t get to our house till about 8:30, so we had a late dinner. My mom and I snacked all throughout the evening but not too much because we still had appetites for a yummy dinner.


Finally tried Alexia sweet potatoes! They were so yummy, I had a few before Brendan even got here 😉

My mom also got a Key Lime Pie because that is my brothers favorite dessert. My mom goes nuts with the food whenever Brendan comes down. She acts like he is a starving college kid that only eats crumbs while away.

I honestly don’t even really like Key Lime Pie but I had a sliver. If I’m having dessert, I usually want it to be extra chocolate-y!

We hung out for a bit then went off to bed around midnight. This morning I got to sleep in till about 9:30! I surprised myself when I woke up that late. It is a dreary day here today so maybe that helped:)

I was planning on taking Bikram again today but honestly woke up with a very sore gluteus maximus so I decided today could be my rest day instead of tomorrow. I think it is a good idea because I woke up with a pounding sinus headache. Thanks a lot yucky weather =/

After taking Bentley on a nice long walk, we got started on brunch. It was around 11:30 by the time we ate! Still breakfast but just later than usual.


I’m almost positive I ate my body weight in fruit salad before breakfast was even ready. I cannot be tamed around a fruit salad.


Spinach, tomato, and cheese scrambled eggs with a piece of toast.

Now I’m off to spend time with the family before Brendan leaves. Have an amazing Saturday!


Would you rather have a fruity/Tart dessert or a decadent chocolate dessert?

Obviously I am a chocolate girl all the way. Except give me a choice between a brownie and froyo, you know for a fact I’ll be all over that froyo;)

Relaxing Sunday

This morning I slept till 8:45. Hallelujah. Compared to my weekday 5 am wake-up calls, that is glorious. Today is my REST day. That means no working out and letting my body recover from all the workouts I put it through during the week:) I lounged around, sipped on some coffee, then got to work on breakfast.

I’ve been craving something with blueberries I am not really sure why. I contemplated on making pancakes, French toast, or something to that nature but I remembered seeing this recipe on Courtney’s blog a while back.

I printed it out and had all the ingredients! Except the buttermilk but used the lemon juice and milk trick. I also only had plain Greek yogurt instead of Vanilla flavored but it worked like a charm. I highly recommend heading over to her blog and making these muffins right now because they were AWESOME. Thanks Courtney! They definitely didn’t taste “healthy” but they absolutely were. Win!

I HAD to top with some almond butter because I just got this new Barney butter at the store. One of the best nut butters ever.

After breakfast, it was time to take Bentley to the dog park!!


Yay! He was excited to go “bye bye car”.


I’m such a good photographer. Jealous of my skills? I could’ve sworn I was looking at the camera…


His tongue grows like 20 feet long when he is hot and thirsty! I love it.


The dog park we go to is part of a HUGE park. It is so pretty there! It has a 5 mile loop for running, different fields for sports like baseball, golf, etc. Everyone goes there to bike, run, rollerblade, etc. I can’t wait for it to cool off so I can run here!


This cracks me up. He was obviously a huge hit at the doggie park 😉 I don’t think he likes getting his butt sniffed so he sat. Can you blame him? He’s a pre-Madonna. Wonder where he gets that from?

It was poppin’ today! There were so many cute doggies running around and having a great time. I am in love with dogs and I want more. I think I cried to my mom telling her we need to go puppy shopping.


I need to get him an agent. I don’t understand how something can be this beautiful. I’m crazy, I know.

It was TOO HOT outside. Cool front my a**. I guess it was cooler by like one degree. Instead of 98 it was probably 97. I’m too impatient and want cool weather now ;D Bentley had a blast but was super hot and tired so we decided to go home a while later.


Now he loves me<3


He took the BIGGEST nap when we got home. Snoring and all. I’d call that a success!

While he was asleep, we did the only logical thing to do in Florida.


Went shopping. Now I’m about to drown myself in homework:) I hope you all have an amazing rest of your weekend!

Good Morning! ❤

I woke up to this little booger barking his head off.


Don’t be fooled by that innocent little face. Lately when he wants something he barks until he gets it. Of course I’m a pushover so I give him what he wants. Now he’s smart enough to know that will always work. He’s so spoiled!

I slept like a baby because I got new pillows yesterday. Best decision of my life. Well until I make another great decision, but for now it is awesome to me.

Today is my REST DAY. After a week of working out hard, it’s nice to have my rest day on Sunday’s so I can fully enjoy the day and let my muscles rest and get stronger.


Last night mi madre and I went to a new campus of our church. It was nice and just as good, but I like our main one better! The main one has the pastor right in front of you whereas this campus shows him on the screen. This campus is closer to us though and it was nice to check out a new environment.

We didn’t get out of church till around 7:30 and we were super hungry. The thought of driving home about 15 minutes away and then cooking just wasn’t appealing to us the slightest bit.

We decided we deserved a nice little night out and we stopped at Friday’s because they had a good deal. We each got the 2 for $10 where you can pick an appetizer AND and entrée or an entrée AND a dessert. The only logical thing to do was to each get one and one get an app and split it and the other get the dessert and split it. Good deal if I say so myself!

Forgot to snap a picture of the appetizer but we had a spinach and tomato flat bread.

For my entrée I got the Dragonfire Chicken. It was a grilled chicken breast with some orange stuff over rice and broccoli on the side.


The flash went off so the picture isn’t great quality. I ate all the chicken and all the broccoli and ended up leaving almost all the rice because it wasn’t that great. The chicken and broccoli were good but just a little spicier than I expected! I’m a baby when it comes to spicy though.

My mom got the parmesan encrusted chicken which came with a tomato and mozzarella salad on the side.

For dessert, we were trying to decide between the Oreo ice cream sandwich, the peanut butter pie, or the vanilla bean cheesecake. I wanted the Oreo or the peanut butter because that’s just what I would always rather have. Plus, I really don’t like cheese cake! =O Sorry to all you cheesecake lovers but it’s too heavy and creamy to me. I’d much rather have chocolate or peanut butter! Of course, my mom decided on the cheesecake because that is what the server recommended.


Talk about massive! I ended up having two bites and then had to stop there. It was vanilla bean and white chocolate. I’m not a huge fan of white chocolate either so that was more than enough for me. It was pretty good though, my taste buds were just not into it especially since I was feelin’ the chocolate.


I am now sipping on my usually morning cup of Joe 😀


Not sure what I have planned for today but I’m sure it will be nice and relaxing like a Sunday should be ;P

A Nice Holiday

This morning I woke up to no sound of an alarm. It felt so good to not have to hear it blaring in my ear forcing me to hit snooze 79 times. I actually didn’t get to bed till about midnight last night but I naturally woke up around 8:30.

I think I’m still fighting a little cold because I felt really tired and drowsy like I was on drugs or something when I woke up.


Nothing a nice cup of coffee can’t fix Smile Don’t be alarmed by the picture, it’s just cinnamon on top! I am trying to get off of the coffee creamer because the kind I was getting in the past isn’t natural and has too much crap in it. They didn’t have the flavor I like in the natural creamer so I’m sticking with half & half for now.

Anyway, I decided to whip up a nice breakfast in the form of eggs!


I don’t make eggs as often as I’d like because of the time crunch in the morning before school, so weekends and holidays are the perfect opportunity.

I sautéed some mixed peppers, tomato, and spinach in a pan.

DSC01234 Beat the eggs and added a bit of almond milk to make them a little fluffier.


Poured over the veggie mix in the pan, and topped with a bit of gouda cheese. I’m loving the gouda lately. I don’t think I’ve really ever had it before but it’s really creamy.


Honestly eggs are the easiest thing to make and they are probably the cheapest health food. They’re so good for you too! Even the yolks.

After breakfast and getting ready, I had plans for a Labor Day Picnic up north of where I live at the beach.

We saw some really old antique cars on the road. I snapped a picture because I’ve never seen one before in person! There were three of them driving.DSC01242

It was such a GORGEOUS day out! Aside from the sweltering heat, the sky was so blue and the water and beach were amazing.



I didn’t wear a bathing suit because I just wasn’t feeling it. I wasn’t in the mood to get wet and sandy today. It was beautiful to walk along though.

Straightening my hair probably wasn’t such a good idea. I was sweating the second I stepped out of the car. One of the reasons I hate Florida summers, the heat is outrageous. I was sweating like I was at the gym and today was my rest day. Hot right?

We stayed and chatted for a while before heading out. It was nice to get in the air conditioning! We had a few stops to make and this was one of them Smile


I do realize that I have an addiction. You don’t have to tell me twice Winking smile

How could I pass up cold, delicious caffeine especially when I had a gift card? It just wasn’t an option. It got me through the errands that needed to be run.

It was a good day and I’m taking advantage of my rest day, I’m a little sore from yesterday’s workout!

Now I have to get to the homework that I left till the last minute. What else is new!

I Can’t Believe It

Happy Hump Day!

I felt like this week has taken a really long time. I woke up this morning saying “is it seriously only Wednesday?” I just need to get back into the swing of things and officially out of summer mode!

Wednesday is also one day closer to Thursday. Thursday’s are actually “Friday’s” for me because I have no classes on Friday. SCORE!

 On another note, I have something to share that I’m completely baffled by…

I am STILL sore. Yup. I can’t believe it. It’s not even like I’m kind of sore, I am actually just as sore as yesterday if not even more to the point where I still walk funny.

I don’t remember the last time I was this sore for two days in a row, crazy!

I have been foam rolling like there is no tomorrow AND I iced today.

I’m hoping I’m good to go tomorrow because I’m seriously dying to do a normal workout.

This morning I actually set my alarm for extra early so that I could hit the gym for some upper body weights. When I woke up, I was super tired. I decided to listen to my body and get an extra hour of sleep. It was wonderful.

Also, the other day I woke up with a scratchy, sore throat.

This has made me feel tired and not as good as usual the past couple of days, and this morning it was still lingering.

So today I decided to take a rest day.

I contemplated on taking a yoga class or just doing upper body weights tonight, but I figured that this is my body’s way of telling me to chill out.

I am usually doing workouts involving great effort about 6 days a week, and sometimes I just need a break.

As I was thinking of my post for today and how I may need to take a break, I came across Fitnessista’s Blog Post.

If you haven’t seen it yet, it was a focus on rest days!

I took it as a sign. I like to be active, a lot and even though I know how great and beneficial rest days are, I’d rather only take one a week. No more.

If you check out her post, the part that jumped out at me the most was the part on how do you know if you need an extra rest day.

I fit ALL the categories.

EXTREMELY sore? Check.

Exhausted? Check!

Sick? Check.

So there we have it, a rest day was well needed. I need to learn how to listen to my body more effectively because I’ll admit, I can be pretty stubborn and only do what I want to do at times.

It’s honestly SO important and doing so will just make you stronger and that means the workouts after your rest days will be even better. I’d rather have good quality workouts than too many crappy ones.

After a MUCH needed extra hour of sleep, I finally got up and made myself a cup of coffee, of course Smile

I took Bentley on a walk and he seriously gets SO excited. It was wet outside so I had to dry him off when we got back in! Whenever I do this, he gets really wild and starts growling and running away and back thinking he’s tough.



He hates when I take pictures of him and he knows when I have the camera out too! He refuses to look at me. He’s still cute as heck. Rude.


This is my I don’t feel like getting all pretty but I don’t want to look like a total hobo either look.

I realized wearing dark jeans in 98 degree weather in the summer of Florida is not such a brilliant idea.

Also wearing my hair down and frying it to death does no good because in 2.3 milliseconds of stepping outside I will have an afro.

Solution: Shorts, ponytail, headband.

P.s. Do not wear a white shirt and forget your umbrella before going to school. Just don’t.


After getting some school work, laundry, and dishes done around the house it was time for dinner! I am seriously super tired and now I know why my mom never wants to cook when she gets home from work.

However, we did anyway because I still enjoy it and don’t want to eat microwave crap like I used to live off of.

I tried something tonight I never have before, OKRA!

We’ve been picking up a new vegetable or two each week and revolving our meals around them.

To prepare the Okra, I steamed it like edamame.

First I rinsed them off and cut off the ends.



Then I simply boiled water with some lemon juice and salt and put them in once it came to a full boil.

It quickly boils (maybe 30 seconds – 1 minute mine took) and then I strained and topped it with salt and a little bit of butter.

The end. Seriously that’s all I did because I didn’t know how else to make it!

We had it with Hot Organic Chicken Sausage and rice.
